What to do with a toe nail that looks like it may come off?

A large heavy rock fell on my toe and injured the nail but still has not fell off so should I try to remove it or let it fall off on its own? Its been a week ago.What to do with a toe nail that looks like it may come off?
Let if fall off on it's own. If you pull it off you risk infection. When the area underneath it is ready to be exposed to the elements (sort of like scabbing over a cut) the nail will fall off on it's own. Then, a new one should grow back soon. after a nice long hot shower try to wiggle it loose if there is no pain pull it off, if there is pain leave it and try at a later time. If any pain at all leave it. I had the same problem when I finally wiggled mine off the nail underneath was growing back. I waited like 4 weeks...shouldn't have felt much better once it was off. Mine had the dry blood from bruising under it...not a clean situation and I think its cleaner to get it off and cleaned. Sorry about your accident I know how much it hurts :(
to tell you the truth i'm not going to tell you to pill it off cuz it can get worser. use warm water and hand sanitizer. soak the toe nail with the warm water and let it sit. for a minute now slowly wipe it off(gently) and try not to pull so hard and let it slide right off.
