I have to find out how long it will take for a nail to rust in water like how many hours, days, or weeks?How long does it take for a regular steel nail to rust?
The answer is hours, days, weeks months or years.

Seconds, Hours, Days, Years, Decades, right? Just like the oxidation of a particular nail in a particular watery environment.
If the water is very low in dissolved oxygen and of the right pH the nail will hardly rust at all. If the water is full of salt, has a low pH, and is frequently shaken (to dissolve more air into it) the nail could rust very very fast. {and even faster if it is in contact with something which makes a galvanic cell.)

give it many days if not weeks and it will eventually rust... or you can put it in a glass bowl with a mixture of nitric acid and water and it will start to rust within hours.
