If you use nail glue as an adhesive would it do the same job as the primer on the nail?

and can you tell me how to do sculptured nails? and also can you tell me how to do gel nails? thanks for the answer for the artificial nails. what type

of brush do you use to apply acrylic? If you use nail glue as an adhesive would it do the same job as the primer on the nail?
No. The point in using primer is to dehydrate the nail plate so that the acrylic will stick better. Nail glue won't do that.

Judging by your questions, I can see that you're not familiar with nails at all, which is very dangerous because that also means that you don't know which chemicals do what. A lot of those are irritants and can mess your skin up real bad if you don't apply it correctly.

Please either get training from a school, or just go to a salon and leave it to a professional! If you use nail glue as an adhesive would it do the same job as the primer on the nail?
It does! Get it here for a dollar! My favorite website for cosmetics! Almost everything is a dollar! E.L.F. is a company that all girls need! http://www.eyeslipsface.com/home

What is wrong with my nail if it turned green!??? an olive green!!!?

i didnt slam the door or anything on it!!!

i just got a manicure and I saw that 2 weeks after it turned green!!! HELP!!!

what is the solution to this problem??What is wrong with my nail if it turned green!??? an olive green!!!?
you have a nail infection

mark kWhat is wrong with my nail if it turned green!??? an olive green!!!?
That is really bad. If you got acrylic nails and its green underneath, it is probably fungus growing. You need to take the nail off and find an over-the-counter anti-bacterial ointment or cream. If you just got your nails painted, then take the polish off and apply the cream or ointment.
it could be from the chemicals in the manicure

or maybe residue from the polish

if it doesnt go away or hurts then you should definetely go see a doctor and get i checked out even for peace of mind

good luck
maybe your nail has reacted funnily to the products used during the manicure
YOUR GOING TO DIE:)

you have a nail fungus
you are going to lose the finger for sure
maybe its a reaction to ur nail for the nail polish

What does it do when you pour nail polish remover into nailpolish?

thins it out...if you have old nail polish that you really really like and it got clumpy from sitting..add a little nail polish remover and roll it around in the palms of your hand...it will thin it out so you can enjoy it again!!What does it do when you pour nail polish remover into nailpolish?
Yes, nail polish remover mixed into nail polish will thin it out, but you dont want to put too much in. Too much thinning will ruin your nail polish. What does it do when you pour nail polish remover into nailpolish?
It thins it out although I did it once with black nail polish and it made the polish really strong and took me ages to get off later.
it is a trick of our trade to use nail polish remover to thin out the polish.
It breaks down the polish. It would be like putting makeup remover in a bottle of liquid foundation, or paint remover in a bucket of paint.

If you need to thin your polish, try polish thinner.

But if your polish is too thick to apply, it's probably time to throw it away. It's either gotten too much air or is too old.
It limits the ability of the polish to adhere. If your goal is to thin the polish, which has thickened, Mary Kay has a polish thinner.

I'm not a Mary Kay person, by the way, but this is the only brand of which I am aware.
It will thin out nail polish that is a little old and getting thick, however the acetone and other removers in it will make the nailpolish chip and peel faster. Your best bet to thin out nailpolish is by using special product, OPI makes a nailpolish thinner that works well and does not ruin the nailpolish. You can buy at beauty stores such as Ulta or at nail salons.
its been said to thin it out if the polish was thick, but honestly it doesnt do anything....you would need to use a polish thinner in order for the polish to thin....sorry but its true
it does not mix very well

Why does my new nail polish dry out after using it a couple times?

I just bought a very pretty dark dark red nail polish by revlon and it started to dry out and became hard to use after just two applications. This seems to happen with every type of nail polish i try, although more with darker colors than the lighter ones. why does this happen and is there anything i can do?Why does my new nail polish dry out after using it a couple times?
Make sure you wipe the top of the bottle off before putting the cap back on. If you let polish dry on the threads of the bottle, it can cause little gaps that can let air in and dry the polish out. Also, it could be old to begin with, even though you just bought it. Some stores have polish forever on their shelves before it is sold. Also, try putting a very small amount of vaseline around the threads of the bottle. This will help to keep the cap from sticking, and also keep air out. Close it tightly after each use, and only leave it open while you are using it. Close it as soon as you are done with it.

Also, try using some good quality polish like OPI, Essie, Creative Nail Design, China Glaze - and there are a few more good ones. You will get better end results, and it will be well worth the extra money spent on them.

One other thing - if your polish gets thick after having it for a while, you can thin it with a few drops of nail polish thinner. Don't use polish remover. Buy thinner made specifically for thinning polish. You can find it in most beauty supply stores. As for the top quality brands of polish, you can find them for sale in many nail salons, and also you can get some in a beauty supply store as well - depending on the brand. I would suggest staying away from the cheaper brands. They're just not worth it in the long run.Why does my new nail polish dry out after using it a couple times?
Unless you are consistantly an idiot (you do not seem like one), this is not a problem with screwing the cap on tightly enough. This is more likely a problem with taking too long to paint your nails. As states in other answers, a drop or two (no more) of polish remover should be enough to get your polish nice and runny again.
    Use felt tip pens instead
Nail polish dries when it comes into contact with the air. If the bottle is closed tightly after use, the remaining polish ought to remain in a liquid state, as there is no air in the container. If however, you are finding it drying out in the bottle, it may be that you are not closing the bottle tightly enough. If you are worried about breaking the stopper, you might like to consider closing the bottle in the usual way, (but, tighter!) and then placing it in a small plastic bag such as used in freezers. That should ensure that the air is excluded and the polish stays liquid.
i'm a nail polish addict..toes %26amp; fingers are always painted..so i know that this is really unusual.

it has to be something you are doing wrong...like not screwing up the lid properly because Revlon is an expensive %26amp; top quality brand...i have used it for years..and never had a problem.

you can drizzle a few drops of nail polish remover onto cotton wool..and squeeze it into the bottle..put the lid back on and shake...that will sort the problem...but it shouldnt happen!
Screw the top on when your done!!
add one drop of varnish remover, acetone, and then give it a good shake, this should revive your polish. as soon as you find it starts to thicken again, just add a drop and mix.
Keep the cap off too long
Make sure you have closed the bottle very tightly =]
    air
Next time, before one dries out, add a few drops of nail polish remover and shake it up. By thinning it with solvent, you will reduce the chances of it drying out on you again.
well maybe you don't put the lid on tight enough
I don't know.Maybe if you buy a better more expensive kind then your polish will be better in quality!Think about that!
Don't keep it in dry places...or in the sun....thats all i can say...try in the bathroom.....to store them
Not sure why it happens. Maybe its cheap nail polish?

If and when that happens you can add a few drops of nail polish remover into the nail polish, shake it up and its normally as good as new :)
you probably dontn close it all the wy or

you leave it exposed to the air to long when you paint your nails,

maybe it just seems like it is closed all the way when you have darker ones... and you can tell whenit is closed with the lighter ones.
make sure the tops on securely . keep the nail polish in the fridge.

Dog broke nail right at top where it comes out of the skin?

It has not bleed at the break site, but it is a splintered break and is painful. Will a new nail grow or should I have it completely removed???Dog broke nail right at top where it comes out of the skin?
Take the dog to the vet and have it fixed. My dog did this a couple of years ago and they had to put her under and pull it out. A new nail grew back. They also cut down all the other nails really short to where they bled and used clotting powder to stop the bleeding. She was completely under so none of this was painful for her.Dog broke nail right at top where it comes out of the skin?
If the dog will allow you to-attempt to file down the splintered part as much as possible so it doesn't tear more. It will probably start bleed but you can put some Quick stop or Baking Soda Powder to stop the bleeding. If he will let you cut it straight better yet it may bleed but he'll lick it till it stops. My Jack just tore her completely off down to the pad, I'm not sure if that will grow back, but it stopped bothering her in about 3 days. Good luck
Ouch! My dog ripped her nail out at the skin and it did bleed. I took her to the vet and he gave me some antibiotics for her so it wouldn't get infected and some cream to put on it. He also told me to cover it when she was outside so no dirt would get into it. If the nail is hanging there you might want to have the vet look at it to see if it should be removed. They are very painful until they grow back in (in a few months).
Take her to the vet. Animals nails are extremely sensitive and your dog must be in agony. I wouldn't try cutting it off on my own cuz that might make it worse.
May need medical adhesive to seal it from infection -- see a vet.
    ouchh.

    it should grow.

is it your nail or your dogs? lol

  • I want to remove half of my index finger nail, will the skin under my nail hurt if something touches it?

i smashed my nail a few months ago, and half of my nail is black. i want to remove it cuz i wanna take out the dried blood, i already took off some of it but its annoying. so, if i remove my nail, do i have to cover it up with something so that it wont hurt?I want to remove half of my index finger nail, will the skin under my nail hurt if something touches it?
Yes it will hurt if you remove half of your finger nail, and it will be very hard for the finger nail to come back again.

My suggestion is to leave the dried blood there.

Eventually, the nail will grow, and the dried blood will start going up, meaning that it'll come off.

I would leave it.I want to remove half of my index finger nail, will the skin under my nail hurt if something touches it?
A rock once fell down on my nail and took it completely off my finger. Yes, it hurts very bad. Plus, bandaids didn't make it better. :( anyway, you could wait for your nail to grow and the dried blood to come off. On the upside, black nails look cool XD

it will grow back... my brother slammed his finger in the car door a couple years ago and it was disgusting because his nail came off. but yeah it will grow back... where a band aid on it though because people will think it is really disgusting.
when i was younger i was sitting on a skateboard and my hands were on the ground. i ran over my middle finger and the nail came off. it looked and felt really weird but it did grow back. didnt take too long either
yeah, it will. probably not for a while, because it grows just as fast as your nails grow. so maybe 4-6 weeks before it's fully grown. Must hurt like mad, tho.
yes don't worry it will grow back nails continuously grow even wen there isn't any but best to keep it as clean as possible it is a very easy area to get infected
um, ow. that must have been quite painful. but yes over time it should grow back, it may take awhile but it will. feel better! =)
Yes but it will take a while. Keep it clean so it doesn't get infected.

does the sheet rock go back into place inside the wall? After putting a nail in the wall and removing it, after a certain ammount of time does the wall heal itself?
No. You have to fill it in. Small holes are easily patched with toothpaste or baking soda mixed into a paste with water. After putting a nail in the wall and removing it, after a certain ammount of time does the wall heal itself?
Um....you're kidding, right? Does a wall ';heal'; itself???? Wow....

thanks for giving me a laugh today.
    NO, its not alive!!!
    No Jodi

The walls do not ';heal'; themselves

this is something that a ';wall doctor'; has to do

they come in and apply some ';patching'; meds

and, then it is all better !!

Self healing walls are still some twenty-five years away !

I'm sure that some bio-chemist somewhere is testing enzimes as we speak that can be added to gypsum that will attempt this !! Never say never when it comes to the looney tunes that are standing around with test tubes in their hand !!!

Uhmmm, no, but you can go get some spackling or plaster of paris from home depot, in the paint section, and put that in, in a day or two it will be ready to paint or texture...then re paint.
    no.

No you have to put a small amount of putty over it.
No. use a little spackling or toothpaste will hide the hole.

I have a black toe nail. will it grow out on its own or do i have to drain it out?

I don't want the whole nail to fall. HELP!!I have a black toe nail. will it grow out on its own or do i have to drain it out?
It will probably fall off eventually. If the nail is black and there's no pressure underneath it, there is probably nothing to drain.

If there is a blood filled pocket under the nail you should have it looked at.

It's not as bad as it sounds for the nail to fall off. It doesn't hurt unless you rip it off too soon and when it comes off it's just pink skin underneath. The new nail grows in very quickly, at least in my experience.I have a black toe nail. will it grow out on its own or do i have to drain it out?
It will either grow out on its own, or it may fall off. I had one that took 4 months to eventually be pushed off by the new nail growing under it. I had half a big toe nail for a while, but it grew in alright.

How long is nail technician school and how much does it cost?

and is there alot of jobs available in that field? How long is nail technician school and how much does it cost?
It depends on the state you're living in. I'd call your local cosmetology school or State Board of Cosmetology and ask!

I can't speak for other states, but here in California, it's kinda tough competing with the cheap Vietnamese salons. I offer high quality services with good sanitation practices, but a lot of people prefer fast n cheap services instead :( The economy situation isn't helping either. I'd stay away from renting for a while and try to go into a Spa.

If a whole nail falls off your finger can it grow back or will the doctor have to surgically put in one?

Like if you fall cause that happened to my dad.If a whole nail falls off your finger can it grow back or will the doctor have to surgically put in one?
dont worry it grows back my big toe's nail fell of and it grew back perfectly fine nails arent like teeth nails can grow infinetely while teeth cant.If a whole nail falls off your finger can it grow back or will the doctor have to surgically put in one?
Most of the time if your nail falls off or is cut off in some accident, the doctor will just place a piece of plastic in the nail bed so that your nail will grow straight. Otherwise it has the chance of being all crooked and gnarled. It will grow back on it's own, but it's best to see a doctor. =)

Yes, I agree with that answer. She could get sick..so get it off now!Is it ok when I put frontline plus on my cat, then get some nail polish on it when her fur was wet?
get the nail polish off before it licks it off. This isn't rocket science!
I bet they will both be just fine. Make sure your sister washes her hands, you too if you touch the frontline...once it dries there is no problem with touching that area.

  • Is it bad to keep toe nail polish on for more than a week?

i got my toes done at a salon and i have the color still on for more than a week and its perfectly fine. (the color is still on perfectly cus theres like 5 layers in total with the base and top coat, and layers of the color.)

is it bad to keep it on?

will my toas turn yellow? Is it bad to keep toe nail polish on for more than a week?
Don't worry about it!! I usually keep mine on for a month. The base coat will prevent any of the color from staining your nail and so long as you let it breate, you'll have no chance of them turning yellow. Enjoy your toenails! Is it bad to keep toe nail polish on for more than a week?
    they won't turn yellow.
No way, most people keep it on for two weeks or more. And that's not what turns your nails yellow.
If the person put a clear base coat on before all the polish it is fine to wear it until it starts to chip off. I leave my polish on until it starts to come off, but as I said the trick is to use a base coat first. I learned this trick a few years ago from reading a magazine. My large toenails were yellow from polishing them then I read to use a base coat and it actually works. It will take a while for the yellow to go away but it will eventually. Just make sure it is a good brand, I also use it as a top coat to seal the color to make it last longer.
You'll be fine, it won't do anything to your toes.
The base coat makes it fine for your nails long term. But if you leave nail polish on without a base coat it can turn your nails yellow so remeber to get a base coat.
a weeks ok, just make sure when you take off nail polish to give your toes a day or two of rest:) even like 5 hours will help if you don't have time. and you don't havta do this every time you re-do them just when you've had them on for a while, say a week:)
its fine, i keep mine on for like a month at a time!
You can keep it but make sure that you let your nail breath for a while..that way, they won't turn yellow...

Is it true that if a nail is emedded in a tire too close to the sidewall the tire has to be replaced?

If its also almost baldIs it true that if a nail is emedded in a tire too close to the sidewall the tire has to be replaced?
    Yes.

Where the tread is, the tire has layers of weave to hold a rubber plug in and is stiff enough for a patch to hold on to.

Because the side wall needs to bulge out when you hit a bump, the side wall has little or no weave for the plug to be embedded in and flexes to much for the patch's glue to hold up. Simply after hitting a bump, the fix WILL fail and you have an old fashion blowout. Is it true that if a nail is emedded in a tire too close to the sidewall the tire has to be replaced?
If it is almost bald,it's too much of a liability to the tire shops because if they patch a bald tire and it blows up,DOT can fine them and you can sue them because they let it leave like that and by DOT standards,3/32in.is legally worn out.The tire shops have a certain area in which they can patch it known as the ';crown'; of the tire. As for patching a sidewall, don't do it.If they were to patch a sidewall(and you can if you know what you're doing),the sidewall of the tire flexes with the movement of the vehicle and the patch would come right off making the tire very dangerous. It's all pretty much a liability issue and they don't want the responsibility.
In Texas, it is a law that if the nail is in the sidewall, the tire has to be replaced. I've had this happen to me on three occasions in 20 years.

Apparently patches in the sidewall don't hold well, and cause structural weakness.

I buy the best tires available. It is the only thing between you and the road and going off the road at 60 mph in the rain. (Which I've also done. Tires are cheaper)

And I buy the insurance because it has in fact paid off well.
ok, tire anatomy 101. if you look at the cross section of a tire, the part that has (or is supposed to) have tread, has steel embedded in the rubber. whereas the sidewall has only nylon reinforcements since it does a lot of flexing (like when you hit a bump or pot hole). and as common sense tells you, steel is stronger than nylon. so if you where to put a plug in the sidewall, the, every time you hit a bump the hole would move around the plug and eventually re-open the hole. but if the tire is almost bald, just be smart and get a new one.
Consider the sidewall as the structural part of the tire. The steel

belts are under great stress at this point and are susceptible to

separation and blow-outs if they are damaged.

Especially if they are almost bald... Now there's really no reason

to even think of repairing it...

Good Luck with your new tires....
If the nail is even close to the sidewall, on the part of the tire known as the shoulder, it can't be patched. The curvature and flex will loosen the patch immediately.

Being almost bald, you should replace it anyway. One way or another you will have to replace it soon.
if the hole is in the sidewall then a plug won,t work there because the tire flexes while your driving. if it,s bald then it,s time for a new tire anyway.
yes sidewall patches have been deemed unsafe by the federal government
Buy a new tire. You don't want to risk a blowout. I know it sucks but it happens to many people. Just bad luck.
Because you can't put a patch on the sidewall.

How hard would it be to nail jello to a wall??

How hard would it be to jello a nail to a wall? How hard would it be to nail jello to a wall??
Freeze it. It works wonders. How hard would it be to nail jello to a wall??
Its easy, but you can only nail a tiny amount to the wall
    whoa...i dono..probably like..really hard
    simply put...IMPOSSIBLE!
if it was really cold i'd say not that hard
Well... it depends on what you got IN that jello...

how about a whole apple in the middle, with lots of whole cut discs of pinapple, pears, cherries, apricots, oranges, etc - a whole lot of cut up fruit. The whole thing would have to be in one of those molds, the big ones that's like a bunt cake pan only more cone-like and would have to be the consistency of finger jello (';jigglers';).

Hammer the nail through the apple and there you go! I bet it would stay together.

Or, you can mess up the recipe like my sister did one time and we left it out for too long at a party so when she took it out of it's lobster mold - it was stiff... and it looked VERY VERY wrong when placed strategically near a body... :) We could have nailed that jello to the wall.
That's funny, i just read a plaque at a store yesterday that said ';Raising teenagers is like trying to nail Jell-o to a tree'; (close enough). Do you have teenagers who make you feel that way or are you a teenager who makes your parents feel that way? Just curious.
let the jello dry out a little and solidify then try to nail slowly hahahaha....idk it will be very difficult
    75/10
    Big Nail...Bigger Hammer
I'm guessing you could probably do it if you make your jello with knox gelatin (used to thicken jello for finger jello). I'd like to see you try. haha
Make finger jello. It is more dense than regular jello. Might work give it a try %26amp; report back!
    take it freeze it, drill a hole, and stick a nail in and HAMMER A WAY ! ! !! ! ! !! ! lol
depends how old the jello is, fresh jello, i don't see that working. Make sure to video your attempts as something like that could be funny to see.
Easy, if you make the jello with 1/8 cup of water.
it's pretty easy.....making stay on the wall is the hard part.
The difficulty level of that would be very high.
Put stiff cold jello in a little sack, and nail through the sack into wall, you think?
Depends on how old the jello is.
I did that once and it opened a portal to another dimension. Nobody saw me for years, but I was only in the other dimension for a day. I tried it with lime jello, but apparently strawberry works best.

Is it bad to wear nail varnish ALL the time?

there isnt a time when im not wearing nail varnish, as i cant actually stand the feel of my nails ';naked';!

ive never had any problems with my nails splitting or anything like that, they're really strong n grow long, i always use basecoat..

is it bad for my nails like in the future will they be damaged or something?

xIs it bad to wear nail varnish ALL the time?
it's not gonna affect you in some weird way just that when your older and you look at your nails they'll look kind of yellow. i'm not sure if it happens to everyone but i read it somewhere and my mom is proof. Is it bad to wear nail varnish ALL the time?
No nail varnish will not damage your nails at all.
Your nails, like each and every part of your body, needs certain care to stay strong and healthy. My suggestion is take a day or so every now and then the let your nails 'breathe'.

ALWAYS use a suitable undercoat ( one with vitamins if you can spare the cash,), and keep your coats thin and light.

Still, the best thing you could do is let your fingers go naked for a few days here and there, and soak them in honey and warm water when you can.

Does storing nail polish in the fridge make it last longer?

I heard this years ago but I don't know if it's just an old wive's tale!Does storing nail polish in the fridge make it last longer?
It prevents it from going crusty and last longer. also keeping purfume in the fridge is really good my mum got purfume from her 18th birthday and still has it today shes 36.Does storing nail polish in the fridge make it last longer?
Storin nail varnish in a fridge makes it easier to use and spreads easier in appliacition which there for makes it last longer
    No!

Thats the truth ruby the famous make-up artist on

Ten years younger said it just makes the nail polish dryer..

But keep it in there too long and it wont work well and be all cloggy together..
Yes it does. Cant tell you why though I don't know, only that my sister does it. (think it makes it so it goes on better aswel)
Yeah it just makes it a little bit thinner so it goes on really well and it stops it from being crusty. :)
    Yeah,Definately
Why i've never heard of that.

    But thanks for the tip.
it also make it dry faster if you are in a hurry !!

Should I take my finger nail off or keep it on?

Today I got acrylic nails put on; I ended up hitting my pinky finger on something and now almost the entire nail, including my own nail, is coming off. I have a band aid on it now, but I don't know if I should keep the nail on and see if it grows back/falls off or just take it completely off.Should I take my finger nail off or keep it on?
I am a nail tech and have seen this before. Wrap your finger tip in gause (sp?) or a large band aid for a day or two. When it isnt so sore, clip back the artificial nail so it cant get caught on anything and put a bandaide around the nail holding it down so it wont catch on anything. Slowly keep clipping it back until it isnt getting caught on things.

Dont bother trying to take the nail off. Keep it short and let it heal on its own. Clip the nail back as it gets out where it could snag on something. Just do this as it grows out. It will be okay. u can keep the artificial nails on on the other nails and leave this one to heal.

Good luckShould I take my finger nail off or keep it on?
Finger nails usually grow back in a couple of weeks. Ive lost a few due to crushing my finger or hitting it with a hammer or something similar. I kept the old nail even though it turned purple and brown and was obviously dead as protection for the new nail. but eventually it fell off by itself and there was a new nail underneath.
    ouch!!

you should let it try to let your actual finger nail heal before you do anything. then, if it doesn't heal for a while, you may need to see a doctor:/

  • Is it okay to bring your own nail polish to a nail salon?

I don't find any of their nail polish appealing. Is it okay to bring your own nail polish to a nail salon?
ya i do it all the time!!!!!!!!!!Is it okay to bring your own nail polish to a nail salon?
I would ask, but I would assume so. Now that I'm a nail polish freak, thinking of those nasty sticky bottles they put on my fingers grosses me out. They continually put in thinner to make it paint worthy, making the ';real'; color and integrity not be there.

I would (if I ever did my nails in a salon again), but I've got the best stuff, I can change my polish nightly and be happy!
yea you can! when i was in a wedding for my older cousin i brought the specific color my cousin wanted me to have and they didnt say anything about it. as long as you pay for it, they dont care.
I'm sure you could, I mean your paying for it! They probably wouldn't mind.
    yeah!

i do that all the time
i guess it really depends on the salon. ask first?
yes you'll still have to pay them to paint your nails though,

I put OPI nail polish on top of acrylic nails & It's not drying?

I put on two coats. I waited for the bottom coat to dry first, of course.

It's kind of mushy %26amp; soft.

Why is it not drying? Would it help to put a clear coat over it?I put OPI nail polish on top of acrylic nails %26amp; It's not drying?
but clear and have someone blow dry them for u...possibly need heat on them,I put OPI nail polish on top of acrylic nails %26amp; It's not drying?
there is 2 choices either remove it all and do it again or try to spray some of that spray cooking oil stuff on it and a clear coat would probably make it worse

Why would red or coral nail polish get dark streaks after it dries?

Every time I use red or coral nail polish, as it's drying it gets these dark streaks. I've tried switching brands, different base and top coats, but it still does it. It's been happening for over a year now and I'm not on any meds or anything! Can anyone explain this and/or solve the problem? Why would red or coral nail polish get dark streaks after it dries?
Are you shaking it alot beforehand? It might not be mixed enough and maybe that is why it is streaking.

Also stick it in the fridge before you apply it.Why would red or coral nail polish get dark streaks after it dries?
It could be that it was already exspired when you bought it from the store (that happens alot of time to me) or it could be tat your not putting it on thick enough. so try this next time your ready to add the first coat on. put alot of nail poish on the brush and wait about 7 mins for the first coat to dry. then add your secound coat on but not as thick as the first one. i hope i helped you out :-) good luck!

Is nail varnish dangerous if it gets into your bloodstream?

Just curious if its dangerous or not. or is it only if a large amount gets into the blood? Is nail varnish dangerous if it gets into your bloodstream?
It is by no means safe, but will not be lethal, if it is carbon based, which they usually are. Please don鈥檛 eat the stuff, just use as the instructions indicate.

Is it safe to share nail files?

I just bought a glass nail file today and loved it. After I showed my mom the results she thought my nails looked nice and wanted to borrow it. I know shes my mom and everything but emery boards can be personal since all nails have germs. Plus I bought it myself! What do you guys think? Am I being stingy? Is it safe to share nail files?
    No it is very unsanitary.

If someone had a fungis growing around the nail or a cut thats infected and than files their nails, bacteria will get onto the file and when the file is used by another person that bacteria is transfered onto the other persons nail.

Having your own file is better.

Also after using your file its always good to clean it with alcohol. Is it safe to share nail files?
its perfectly safe. just wash your hands after you use it to be really safe

How do you get finger nail polish out of carpet?. It dry know?

    Try This Remedy:

Step 1: Apply nail polish remover (non-oily type)-use cotton swab to apply to the spill. Don't wet through to carpet backing.

Step 2: Pick up softened materials -use clean white paper towel and push toward the center of the spill to avoid spreading.

Step 3: Repeat above-soften and carefully remove a layer of the spill each time. Haste may spread the stain and/or damage the carpet.

Cleaning Solutions to have on hand:

    1. Detergent: Mix 1/2 teaspoon clear dishwashing detergent with one cup of warm (not hot) water.

    2. Pre-soak Solution: Mix 1 teaspoon enzyme laundry detergent (such as Axion, Biz, or others) with one cup of water.

    3. Dry Powder Cleaner: Use powdered carpet cleaners.

    4. Dry Cleaning Solvent: Non-oily, non-caustic type sold as spot removal for garments. Caution: May be flammable.

    * Note: Not all carpet fibers react the same way when treated for stains. Before proceeding with any of the preceding cleaning procedures, we recommend you contact the appropriate fiber company for their suggested maintenance guidelines. Failure to follow these guidelines may void your warranty. For more information, please contact your Flooring America retailer.

Note: If your carpet has an Ultra 25a or Everguard Warranty, you must call 3M directly prior to treating any stain. Failure to do this will void your warranty. How do you get finger nail polish out of carpet?. It dry know?
The best option would be to try to cut it out, or scrape it off. If you use polish remover you risk bleaching the spot in the carpet, and other things will re-wet the polish, and you risk smearing it.How do you get finger nail polish out of carpet?. It dry know?
Happy to say that a combination of windex, nail polish remover, combo of hot H2O, vinegar and dish detergent - and then finally very diluted bleach and cool water got it out (I think!). It was fresh so I was thankful for that. If it's been sitting (I did discover one spot which I had not noticed) - do the nail polish remover first and blot, then do the windex and work it in with your finger, then the hot water with detergent and vinegar and it should come out.

What do you do about a broken nail on a dog? it's bleeding a lot.?

My dog came in all bloody, and when I checked him over I noticed that the highest nail on his front paw is broken at the very top. It's been about 20 mins. and it has not stopped bleeding.

What should I do about it?What do you do about a broken nail on a dog? it's bleeding a lot.?
That happened to my daughters small dog. She had to take him to emergency for stitches! Your guy may need stitches also. I suggest finding the nearest Pet Emergency Center right away. It is worth it. That is also painful for your dog. Last resort........a neosporin ointment or spray and a good bandage for the night....but watch him in case he tries to pull it off. Try to hold the drinking of water for the most part ';during the night'; so he won't have to walk much on the foot to go outside too often to pee or other. Emergency center would be the best choice....asap.

Good luck now. What do you do about a broken nail on a dog? it's bleeding a lot.?
put cornstarch or flour on it and hold ....if it will not stop even after you've covered the nail and really held on (it may take a lot of the stuff to really clog the vein) it MAY need to go to the vet...dont panic its not a huge deal and most likely the bleeding will slow any eventually stop...he can break it back open when her walks too so keep and eye on him for an hour or so afterwards. if the hard casing in gone and the fleshy vein is sticking out you will need to watch it very closely until it grows back out,,
Flour is a good coagulator, put a good handful on it and hold him still. If you have arrowroot or cornstarch, use that instead, it'll make the blood clot quicker (if you cook you may have those, but if you don't just use the flour).

Keep him still for a while, to help things clot up. Don't soak the foot, that comes way later once the blood has a chance to stop and the tissues start binding again.

This is common, don't stress it. You can call the vet tomorrow, but once it stops, it starts to heal.
!!! this is very serious. styptic powder? if you have any use it quick if not try flower or baking powder. put it on the nail and if it doesnt stop bleeding in a few minutes take it to a vet (emergency vets and 24 hour vet hospitals are in every city almost.....!!)

this happened to a dog at the pet store i worked at and it woudlnt stop bleeding so they had to take him and get it cauterized.
Try putting some flour on it if you don't have any septic powder.

Apply some pressure with a clean cloth (if the dog will allow it) and also applying some ice may help stop the bleeding.

Be sure to take him to the vet as infection is a possibility with a torn nail.
neosporin and bandage the paw - do not let the dog walk around - keep him laying down until the blood stops running, if he continues to walk the blood will be pumped to the paw. it isn't as bad as it looks, our dog came in with the nail completely pulled out one time, dunno how she managed that, but that's what we did and it stopped bleeding after a few minutes.
is it the nail or the actual dew claw? nail dip it in flour see is it stops bleeding. If it is the actual dew claw apply pressure for 5 min. if it doesn.t sto[p call the ER VET.
that happend to my dog too. i was gunna take him to the vet but i thought about it and hes really not worth it. i hope he dies
dip it in flour and while you wait to see if it stops bleeding, find a number for a 24 hr vet and be ready to call.
I heard that running a bar of soap along it will clog it and sanitize it.

    Good luck!

What does it mean when your nail beds on all your fingers turn dark purple?

This is called cyanosis. It indicates that there is a decrease of oxygenated blood to the area. This occurs when it is cold and the blood supply to the extremities is decreased so that blood can go to the vital organs. Run your hands under warm water or rub them together and you will see your fingers turn back to their normal color.

What does it mean when your nail turns blue?

Is it safe to be a nail tech while pregnant?

My sister in law is 6 months pregnant and was just hired as a nail tech. She has worked as one before she was pregnant for a long time.

Is it safe to be a nail tech while pregnant? Explain why either way? If you can prove it with a link, that is even better. Is it safe to be a nail tech while pregnant?
I get my nails done at a place that is run by this little asian girl who just gave birth to her first child. She worked in her salon the entire time she was pregnant. When I asked her if it was safe she said ';yes, but only as long as I wear my mask.'; This was told to her by her doctor. I also asked my doctor if it was safe to get my nails done and he told me as long as I wore a mask to avoid inhaling the chemicals or powder.

As long as your sister in law is willing to wear a mask she should be fine. The thing that I've noticed though is that many non-asian nail techs don't wear masks. It may just be my area, but honestly I've only seen them in the asian salons. My guess is a vanity issue, but I'm sure that if the baby's health is important and she loves her job that this should be no problem. Also tell her to make sure to take frequent ';fresh air'; breaks. This should honestly be common practice among any nail tech, but esp for a pregnant one. Wish her luck and congrats! Is it safe to be a nail tech while pregnant?
I believe it's highly dangerous to the fetus to inhale acetone.

That's the solvent used in older nail polish %26amp; remover/cleaner.
';Nail polish contains a number of hazardous chemicals. Although occasional use is unlikely to affect a developing fetus, heavy exposure to nail polish has been linked to an increased risk of early pregnancy loss among cosmetologists.';(from yahoo.com)

.....i think the varying answers are due to the fact that the consequences of working in a nail salon vary from person to person--in other words, does it present a risk? Yes, potentially, but not necessarily-there are lots of nail salons, but children cannot be replaced-why risk it??
i wouldn't. Everytime i walk into a nail salon, i get a headache from all of the horrible fumes. Just imagine what all of those harmful chemicals could do to the unborn baby. Smoking is not good for you or the baby, neither is the chemicals from the nail stuff.
there are too many chemicals in nail polish or nail salons for you to work or go there while pregnant its better not to risk it

after all you want to have a happy healthy baby

P.S. look up the chemicals in a cigarette and nail polish if you want a link!
i get my nails done and was worried about it when i was pregnant and m doctor told me not to worry about the fumes if i was only there for like an hour, but working there all day doesnt sound to safe with all the fumes
i have worked as a nail tech through out all 4 of my pregnancies, my kids are perfectly fine. although i didnt work around acrylic or any type of chemicals as i only did natural nails. she should be fine to do artificial nails as long as she wears some type of a mask while doing the nails. also as long as she is using professional product and not the cheap stuff found in a lot of the corner shops, which is called MMA. she should be fine. she may want to stay away from anything with framaldihyde (sp?) a product that i know does have framaldihyde is creative. but other professional products such as opi are fine. hope that helps.

I broke my nail half way off and it is bleeding...is a bandaid good enough to help it heal?

It is my thumb and half of my nail broke off and its bleeding, I put a band aid and neosporin on it. Is that enough to help it heal?I broke my nail half way off and it is bleeding...is a bandaid good enough to help it heal?
Yes, that should be fine. It happened to my mom a couple of months ago, and while it did seem to take forever to grow back, a band-aid was all that she needed, though it may look a little strange as the nail grows back.

As always, just be sure to see your doctor if it gets infected.

How much do it cost to open up a nail shop?

I want to open a nail shop in Chicago or in an area around Chicago. How much would it cost to open one including mortgage, salary for each worker, supplies etc.How much do it cost to open up a nail shop?
A lot of people don't go directly into business ownership of a salon with out having experience working under master technicians. You can expect to spend around $50,000 dollars in start up business costs but if you work for another nail salon and develop a clientele your transition will be a lot easier. How much do it cost to open up a nail shop?
I mean, at least three billion dollars. with the economy the way it is, your gonna need a lot money to open up a small Business, however i suggest that you rob that little bank on 55th and Lennox up by the mall, there so content and the security guard is this sleepy fat guy named Pablo, so rob them and take the rest of the money out your health insurance fund, and your children's college fund, then send the money to me where i'll process it into more money, by then the government won't know of our little plan to ';overthrow'; them. As i create billions you will need to lead the army into combat with the new dragonskin armor i bought. you and me my friend will eliminate the governments core from the earth then plant our own!!!!!!!!!
hmm i would say your budget should be AT LEAST $25,000, get a loan from the bank =]. also dont be afraid to go to a nail salon %26amp; ask them, but tell them you'll be working in another/on the other side of town lol! :P good luck!

Is it harmful to paint nail polish on the skin?

.Is it harmful to paint nail polish on the skin?
no just dont eat itIs it harmful to paint nail polish on the skin?
Yes, because most nail polishes have formaldehyde in them - the chemical used to preserve cadavers (dead bodies), along with a bunch of other nasties that will be absorbed by your skin into the bloodstream. I don't think it's going to be harmful if you accidently slip while painting your nails though. Just don't do it on purpose.
    Don't do it...

One time I put some nail Polish on my face...

It had a really terrible feeling ...

Nail polish has some chemical things in it that are really harmful for the skin.

    So. Don't do it.
no its not i actually do that when i painting my nails i wait for them to dry then i just dip them in water let them soak or take a shower and then just scratch it off and it looks like a had a pro do it
It depends on how long you leave it on and where. Obviously DO NOT leave it on your face. But on your hands, probably because the skin on your hands/ feet/ etc. has tougher skin.
uhm no just try it. its not like it will kill you.

    i hope its like acid.
    don't sniff it
well since I often paint a little over my nails accidently, I would think not
    yeah don't do it!!
no not at all...where did u get that from?

yesDoes anyone else find it rude to put on nail polish and deoderant in the middle of class?
if you ask the teacher and the kids in the class if it is ok for nail polish then... its not moral but it will be ok

Deodorant is plain rude (my suggestion)
Yes, it's a distraction and the smell could bother those around them. (And I had a teacher who also thought yawning and drinking water in the middle of class was rude.)
Yes, it's not the nicest of smells for everyone else.
    yes!!!!!!!!!!! that is sick!!

I remember some girl clipping her nails in class. the teacher told her not to do that cause it was disgusting. hahahaahahhaa
    Yeahh. That is gross.
WTF? Your teacher accepts this? What's wrong with him/her?
    mhm

but its not rude to sleep!
yeah. that's gross and nail polish has a strong smell.
    thats weird.

ill whip out my hair brush in the middle of class...

    but not deoderant!!!

haha... where do they put it? in their binder... or sumthing?

When you get hit really hard on the nail why does it turn purple?

In P.E this girl through the basketball and all the impact went to my thumb and first my turned white then purple!(This all happened really fast too.) Is it like bruise? It was throbbing and hurt SO much!

%26gt;:When you get hit really hard on the nail why does it turn purple?
    |Yes, that's a bruise. The tissues bleed underneath the nail.

If the pain doesn't subside, and it's caused by pressure from the blood under the nail, you can relieve it safely. Heat a nail, pin, whatever really hot. Then push it gently through the nail; since it's really hot it will push through easily. The pool of blood is keeping an open space between your nail and the skin underneath, so if you're careful you won't burn yourself or anything. When you get hit really hard on the nail why does it turn purple?

Is it better to use nail gun or regular hammer to install baseboard?

A finish nail gun (preferably airless) is the most comfortable and quickest. I use a Senco model. Is it better to use nail gun or regular hammer to install baseboard?
nailgun... hammer misses leaves dents in wood.... then if you stop hammering to avoid dents , you have to go back around with nail set to pound in the nails, then fill and paint.... with nailgun you can carry the filler with you and fill as you go ....Is it better to use nail gun or regular hammer to install baseboard?
i think you're supposed to use a ';brad nailer'; but i'm not sure
nail gun is quicker less damage to the finish

  • Is it true that revelon nail polish is the best brand out their?

i heard that it stays a while before it starts peeling off like most nail polish. Is it true that revelon nail polish is the best brand out their?
Yes, I'm wearing Revlon nail polish right now, and it's stayed on for 4 weeks without chipping or coming off! I love it ;-) The more coats u apply, the longer it will stay on ;-)

Hope I helped a bit ;-)Is it true that revelon nail polish is the best brand out their?
Not really......here's something better put in your nail pollish a garlic and you'll see your nails are gonna be beautiful ;)

I think revlon stays on the best. Normally other nails polish chips for me after 1 day but revlon lasts 5-6 no chips, nothing.
    hey,

OPI nail varnishes are really good. Apparently the actresses on The O.C. all wear them!!

Have you ever tried putting a top coat of clear nail varnish on to stop it from chipping so much? Mine used to chip all the time (when i went through a stage of wearing nail polish all the time) %26amp; the only thing that stopped it from doing this was a coat of clear varnish over the top!

What's the ';it'; nail polish color for this fall?

There seem to be three major trends this season.

    1) Bright, electric, bold colors (orange, purple, blue, green)

2)Pale soft pink pastels. Very soft and subtle, great for a feminine looks.

    3) White. Just take the white part of a french manicure set and paint your whole nail. This only looks good on short nails, though. Dont paint long nails white. What's the ';it'; nail polish color for this fall?
    Orangey-Red or Coral.

Nail polish: is it bad to wear only base coat all the time?

i like the nice shine that the clear nail polish gives . I also know that you wear the base coat before putting the colered nail polish on to protect your nails from turning yellow. But will my nails turn yellow if i use only a base coat for a long time? or does it make my nails healthier?Nail polish: is it bad to wear only base coat all the time?
Just wearing a plain base coat is fine. Just change it once a week and if you do notice your nails getting yellow soak them in lemon juice for awhile.Nail polish: is it bad to wear only base coat all the time?
I think a clear base coat is fine to wear by itself and gives your natural toenails a bit of a shine, but it will eventually not be good for your natural nails if you keep it on for a long time.. They are a bit healthier than colored nail polish, but they do need to breath every once in awhile.

    :D
To be on the safe side, don't use a base coat, but use one of those block thingies. http://beaut.ie/blog/wp-content/uploads/鈥?/a>

It smooths out your nails and makes them very shiny and, well, smooth. It looks better than just a base coat, too.
It depends upon your preferred coating, but it will not affect the color of your nail if you are going to use it for a longer time, of course it is going to affect the color of your nail.
depends if its those healthy ones that cost a lot but the plain has the same effect but takes longer for the nail to go yellow.
    i think healthier

Explain why it is easier ti drive a nail with a heavier hammer?

Hint: what would happen to impulse when using a heavier hammer?Explain why it is easier ti drive a nail with a heavier hammer?
    impulse = force(time)

    impulse is the momentum

    momentum = (mass)(velocity)

if we increase the mass we have a greater impulse, which means greater force driving the nail.Explain why it is easier ti drive a nail with a heavier hammer?
potential energy is greater with a heavier hammer (mgh) if m, or mass, is larger, then the kinetic energy released on the nail will be greater. mgh = .5mv^2

  • Is it true that putting clear nail polish on a wart will remove it?

I have no idea, but I do know that ordinary wart-removal solutions are cheaper -- so why waste the nail polish? ........ :-D

[edit] Btw, the commercial wart-removal solutions do work, but they take a ridiculously long time. Because warts are caused by a virus, it's not a good idea to just remove them surgically -- the nice quick way. That would be too much like easy, or somethin'... and we couldn't have that! .... :-D

You have to kill all the virus inside the living wart, and that's the process that takes so much time. Would clear nail polish do anything to get at the virus inside?

Is it okay to cut the toe nail of my big toe completely off?

My toe nail is loose with a black and yellow colouring underneath and the toe has been swollen for a while. I just want it off. How long will it take for it to grow back?Is it okay to cut the toe nail of my big toe completely off?
I would soak it for a while because it is going to fall off anyway. I would soak if for like 2 hours and try peeling it off. it will grow back. a nail usually grows about 1-3mm per day in a healthy person.. Good luck!Is it okay to cut the toe nail of my big toe completely off?
If it's swollen, I would be concerned about infection. Check with your doctor, he will remove it for you and probably give you antibiotics. Your nail will take anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on your own personal re-growth rate, for it to completely re-grow.

Now, get to the doctor! You'll feel so much better once it's gone. Good luck.

Can I round my kitten's nail after trimming it?

I am about to trim my kitten's nails for the first time. I've read a bunch of sites on doing it (trimming the nail, and not the quick). My question is, I would like to make them as dull as possible as to not damage my furniture. Will simply one quick snip do the trick? Or will it still be a bit sharp (edges?)? Or can I try to trim out the edges making it less sharp? Can I round my kitten's nail after trimming it?
Most cats do not like their nails trimmed. So, the best thing to do is 'to do it quickly', taking off the tips. You can feel where the nail starts to thicken a bit, so don't cut down past this point. By this time, I don't believe your kitten will stand still for having its nails filed. You normally don't have rough, sharp edges if you snip qickly. Even though their nails are trimmed, they can still do much damage to your furniture. If you are not against having them declawed, I'd certainly have it done. Some people think it's cruel, but they jump right back in a day, and don't suffer any pain that I can see. Then, there is a new product called 'softpaws' that glue right on to the kitties nails, but have to be done about every 4-6 weeks. Can I round my kitten's nail after trimming it?
I've had many cats for years. As long as i keep several 'cat-scratch' posts, etc. I've never had any problem with the cats bothering my furniture. The posts and cat trees are even more attractive if you rub catnip on/in them. I never clip their nails. you may have to encourage a kitten to start using his own special scratching place, but he'll catch on fast.
Unless you have an extremely mellow, laidback cat, just do one snip per claw. Most cats don't enjoy having their toes played with, and a kitten is going to be particularly wiggly and freaked if it's her first time. Don't traumatize her, just make it as quick and painless as possible.
try this website http://www.spuk.com/ the aren't permanent and they stop your cat from destroying your furniture
It's good that you are starting this early, and I wish you luck. Cats don't take well to having their nails trimmed. Help would be good and wrap your kitty in a towel before you start, with only one paw sticking out if you can manage that. I can't see why you couldn't use a Emory board to smooth them, if she'll stand for it. The edges will still be pretty sharp, but won't be needles like they are now. You need to get your kitty a scratching post of some kind. Make sure you use a clipper that is specifically for cat nails.
I don't think your cat will like that, like others said just trim them and be quick but gentle, since your cat is still young try to do it as often as possible maybe once a month, just check to make sure they have grown back enough to trim.

and since the cat is young I'd get her used to showering but you don't really need to that often either I rarely shower my two cats... BE GENTLE lol.

Why Is It So Important To Nail Into Studs?

you know when your hanging a frame

why do you have to nail into a studWhy Is It So Important To Nail Into Studs?
Because drywall(which is the material used for walls in most newer homes) or plaster(the material used in older homes) usually won't hold a picture or mirror because of the weight. If the item isn't real heavy, it ';might'; hold it for awhile, but in the long run it will probably fall and break or hurt someone. This website may help. Good luck! Why Is It So Important To Nail Into Studs?
To make sure that the object will be held in place with out falling esp. if it is heavy.
It isn't. Just make sure that your frame isn't too heavy for the drywall to hold up. The drywall will easily hold up most frames.
In order to hold maximum weight it's the best way.

If the weight is light, sheetrock will hold it by using the proper anchors. Nails into sheetrock is not recommended.
They say that, but I have hung pictures for years ';without'; doing that! They don't put studs where you need them for your pictures and such. As long as it is not too heavy, don't worry about it. And when I do get something heavy, I just use a big nail. Works for me.
Drywall(aka sheet rock) is not designed to bear the weight of something heavy. If you put the nail into the stud, then the wood structural member of your house is carrying the weight of the picture or what have you.

How long does it take for a regular steel nail to rust?

I have to find out how long it will take for a nail to rust in water like how many hours, days, or weeks? How long does it take for a regular steel nail to rust?
The answer is hours, days, weeks months or years.

Do you think all nails are identical? How long does a person live?

Seconds, Hours, Days, Years, Decades, right? Just like the oxidation of a particular nail in a particular watery environment.

If the water is very low in dissolved oxygen and of the right pH the nail will hardly rust at all. If the water is full of salt, has a low pH, and is frequently shaken (to dissolve more air into it) the nail could rust very very fast. {and even faster if it is in contact with something which makes a galvanic cell.)

You'll have to try it. There is just no one answer. How long does it take for a regular steel nail to rust?
give it many days if not weeks and it will eventually rust... or you can put it in a glass bowl with a mixture of nitric acid and water and it will start to rust within hours.

Will my finger nail grow back to normal after it falls off?

I got it a dirt bike accident about two months ago and ended up needing 13 stitches in my finger in and around the nail bed. The nail is really bruised and my doctor said it would probably fall off and a new one would grow in behind it, but now my nail looks like it's going to fall off and i don't see anything new growing in behind the nail. There's just a big gap between the nail bed and where the old nail has grown out. is this normal? Will my finger nail grow back to normal after it falls off?
yes of courseWill my finger nail grow back to normal after it falls off?
yes its normal..it will take a while but a new nail will grow.
No it will come in crooked and you will have to get surgery if it grows under. Hope you dont die!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It takes time to grow back. A lot of time. And it's going to look different compared to your other nails.
Yes, this is normal and it will grow back, although a possibility that if the nail bed is damaged it will not grow back exactly as before. Give it time!

Is it better to keep your nail polish in the fridge?

I have heard mixed things, so does ne one know for sure.Is it better to keep your nail polish in the fridge?
The fridge might be an okay place to put it but the important thing is that you keep it somewhere cool and dry. I've tried placing nail polish in a lot of places and I've found that leaving in a cool, dry shelf is just as good as leaving it in the fridge. Don't leave it lying around in the car or anywhere like that though or else you'll find that nail polish becomes really hard to apply. Is it better to keep your nail polish in the fridge?
i kno nd yes it iz cuz if u keep it ne wher else it getz watery for instince try putting it in the freezer or in a warm place it wuld get watery chunky nd faded
i've never tried it. but it sounds like a different idea. to try it out i'd place one or you less favorites in there first, and see how it turns out. you never know.
I've never heard of that I would think it would get hard and glompy in the fridge i wouldn't do that
i don't think so, but I'm not positive. I heard of keeping lipsticks in the fridge tho to avoid melting, but not nailpolish.
It depands on where you live if you live a warm area it;s better

well i remember spilling silver nail poilish on my dark jeans once on accident. my mom gave me a bottle of nail polish remover and q-tips. which worked. cotton balls also work, just be gentle on how hard you rub, depending on the material of the clothing.

and put a towle beneath the spot your working on!!!
as odd as it sounds but use nail polish remover, just dab it on gently and if there is no discolouration, then it will be ok to go ahead and use it. I got red nail polish off white lace this way before

How long it takes nail plate grow back? ?

I been biting nails for really long time now that I have stopped my nails plate separates from nails bed and I would like to know how long it's gonna take a nail plate to grow back to normal shape? How long it takes nail plate grow back? ?
If your nail is separating for the nail bed there could be a few diferent reasons for it.

1.) Psoriasis of the nail. Basically all that means it that your nail bed is super dry and needs to be moisturized.

2.) A fungal infection. Biting your nails can allow bacteria to get underneath the nail and cause an infection. If the nail looks yellowish or very white, then it may be this.

3.) Neither of the above. You could have just damaged the nail and it will grow back.

All 3 of those reasons have a simple answer. Your nail takes approximately 6 months to grow out fresh from cuticle to tip. You can always consult a dermatologist or podiatrist if you feel it maybe a fungal infection.

TO help the nail grow out healthier look into ELON Nail Conditioner. It's been recommended for years by dermatologists to help splitting, peeling, cracking, damaged nails.

    Hope this Helps! Good Luck!

I have acrylics on and I hit my thumb and it pulled up my real nail. How do I take care of it?

I was at work, cleaning the pie case and my thumb nail got stuck in a vent and pulled it half way up. I'm not sure if I should take off the fake nail or just let it grow out. And what should I put on it? The nail is still there just not attached.I have acrylics on and I hit my thumb and it pulled up my real nail. How do I take care of it?
You may want to contact your manicurist -- she may have had this happen before and she'll know what to do. It may be that you need to treat this differently since there is an acrylic involved, however, one time I did get my thumb caught in the edge of my robe when I was sitting down and the robe twisted and my nail was pulled up, about half way down and half way across. So, I could not really lift it off but knew I'd catch it on something and may pull it off. The thought made me cringe. Anyhow, my doctor had me put Neosporin under the nail as best I could, then cover every thing with a band-aid -- to protect the nail and to protect the remain ';hooked'; on part from being pulled off.

By the way, I was surprised at how fast everything grew out. It was about 3 weeks, but I was figuring on maybe 3 or 4 months.

First of all i understand what you are saying as i work on the b#?@$% things, lets just say if you give it a good working in a week and the enviroment/ site you are working in is dusty then at the end of the week take the top cover off (held on with 4 allen screws) clean the filter, use the can of lubricant/ cleaners inside making sure that the sleve slides nicely and the piston is free moving.

Sparay a little on the nose (Where the nails come out from) make sure that itis free and working smoothly, you can clean the plug, but be careful not to damage as these are terriable to get hold of.

Make sure you do all of this with no battery of gas inside.

I have sheetrock in my bed room is it possible to nail paneling on top of it and if so any tips?

If you decide to go with paneling, you're best bet to install it is to find the wall studs in your room and nail the paneling to the wall studs. Studs are spaced 16'; apart from their centers. Get a stud finder or measure from a corner. Also, try to place the nails in the grooves of the paneling so they're not as visible.I have sheetrock in my bed room is it possible to nail paneling on top of it and if so any tips?
Yes its easy. Buy at Home Depot.

Paneling is usually tacky. I would roll mud texture if your looking for something different. It's easy also.I have sheetrock in my bed room is it possible to nail paneling on top of it and if so any tips?
yes make sure u hit the studs, but most of all u want to use liquid nails in between the studs on top of the sheetrock or the paneling will buckle....

    lic. gen. contractor
Yes you can but I suggest just using nails to put it up and make sure it's a color you like. My father did this to his living room a long time ago with very dark, cheap paneling (wood look paper over compressed wood. Made a small room even smaller. But he used liquid nails too and now can't do anything about changing it.
Why nail it? There are countless construction adhesives on the market that would work. Get a caulking gun, half a dozen or so tubes of construction adhesive and panel your room girl.

I like the cheap ($1.97)brand by loctite. Put a little on both surfaces and it sticks. No nails, no propping up, no tape, etc. Works great. Good luck.
you will need to leave a ';nickle thickness'; space between each panel. also might want to paint the wall gap the same color as the panling edge so you can see the gap.

start in CENTER of wall and panel in both way - so you don't have small peice on on edge.
Its hard for a average person to hit the studs, but you can do it, but also glue it, keep in mind you have Electrical outlets, that will need to be adjusted out- and trim pieces for corners and around windows.
drywall is a plus, because it wont bind or bow, just be sure you are using the proper glue and nails, it sould turn out sweet
Yes, just make sure you use nails long enough to make it through the extra thickness and make sure you hit the studs!.
Yes, you don't need to buy a stud finder, just take a nail and drive it into the wall until you hit a stud, there should be a stud every 16 inches then measure every 16 inches and check again with a nail. You are going to cover the holes with the paneling. All you need to do is with the first sheet on each wall draw a plumb line using a 4 foot level over the first stud making sure the bubble is between the lines then measure your panel from the line to the wall and cut the paneling. when hanging your panel take into consideration the last piece you don't want an 8 inch piece of panel to be the last piece on the wall just go back 16 inches on your first piece so that the first piece is about 32 inches. Take the paneling and run some liquid nails caulking adhesive on the back of the panel (use plenty of adhesive). Then place the panel on the wall for a couple of seconds then just peel it back off the wall for about a minute then return panel back on the wall, this will let the adhesive stick faster. Once the panel is back on the wall tack some paneling nails in the grooves of the panel and a few at the bottom. This will allow the glue to set up and dry. I also recommend getting some self stick base board for the bottom of the paneling. However that's another answer for another day.

    Good luck

    Moskie257
Yes you can. You need to find the studs in your wall and you can nail the paneling up with no problem. You can buy an inexpensive stud finder at any hardware store. You might need to nail some furring strips up to the studs and then the paneling to the strips., it depends on how secure you think you need to make it. • Why is it impossible to cut the nails of my right hand with nail scissors?

It works perfectly the other way round, but no matter how I hold the scissors or in what way I present my nails to the scissors, the only succeed in painfully bending the nail. Why is it impossible to cut the nails of my right hand with nail scissors?
Because nail-scissors are basically small shears, and as such exhibit chiral preference.

It's all to do with the angle from which your thumb enters the handle. When you hold a pair of scissors in your right hand, you naturally push the blades together as you close them. When you hold the same scissors in your left hand, you naturally push the blades apart as you try to close them.

You could try tightening the rivet by giving it a few taps with a hammer, but this is likely to be unsatisfactory in the long run. Or try not pushing your thumb inward so hard. Better would be: Get someone else to cut them for you, get some proper nail clippers, or use wire cutters (box-jointed ones are achiral; lap-jointed ones are much less chiral than scissors). Why is it impossible to cut the nails of my right hand with nail scissors?
Scissors work by shearing. If used conventionally, held in right hand when cutting nails of left hand, the lower blade supports the nail and the upper blade shears it. If you try to cut the nails of the right hand when holding the scissors in the left hand, the cutting blade is towards the end of the nail and there is no support from that blade as the upper blade tries to shear the nail. Without that support, the nail just bends. That's why there are left-handed scissors out there. Right-handed scissors can be made to cut a nail on the right hand if they are held with the points facing the person instead of away so that the lower blade again acts as a support. This is awkward and needs practice.
Are the nails tougher in anyway compared to other nails, and have to tired to cut them after soaking them.

You are best seeing the doctor as its possible it could be an infection of some sort.
nails usually become harder to cut the longer u dont cut them...im guessing your right handed as your left hand nails cuts easier...its the same as toe nails...they are always harder to cut than hands...the more often u cut, the easier it will be....and use nail cutter, NOT scissors.
Maybe because you are using right handed scissors instead of left handed scissors.

because your using your left hemisphere,,
You need left hand scissors-the anvil is on the other side.

Or, do what I do, use a good pair of wire cutters.
    Because your right handed???

Try using nail clippers. They're alot sharper.
that's the question that's been plaguing man since the stone age 8-)

    Use nail clippers...
Because you don't have a left arm

How do I get a splinter out of my finger if it is under the finger nail?

I was picking something up off the deck and got a splinter stuck under my finger nail. I tried to pull it out with tweezers, but it broke off under the nail. Will it work it's way out on it's own? Should I go to the Dr. for a splinter? How do I get a splinter out of my finger if it is under the finger nail?
I bet that hurts a lot! If you can't reach it with tweezers anymore you could try soaking it in a solution of epsom salts and water. Don't be afraid to use too much salt in the mix, it will help to draw it out. It's still likely to take a few days to fester out on it's own. Depending on how deep it is, the doc could maybe trim the nail away to reach the splinter, but it would be really painful afterwards. So if you can live with the pain you have now it's best to soak it and wait for it to fester out on it's own. Have you had a tetanus shot within the last 10 years? If not, you should get one.How do I get a splinter out of my finger if it is under the finger nail?
i've had that happen before. hurts.

yea it will grow out along with your fingernail.

    nothing to worry about.

How do you get finger nail polish off of denim after it's dried?

I already scraped off what hardened. Now what? How do you get finger nail polish off of denim after it's dried?
You can try removing it with some nail polish remover but that may lighten the denim. Sorry! How do you get finger nail polish off of denim after it's dried?
Try using an iron. Place a tea towel over the spill and run the iron back and forth a few time's.

    This worked for me.

How can i get my acrylic nail off without it hurting?

I got my nails done, like awhile ago.

and now i have 3 one still,

and i'm trying to get them off,

    but it hurts.

is there any way i can get them off, without it hurting? How can i get my acrylic nail off without it hurting?
yeah, you need to soak them in nail polish remover with acetone. you can soak a cotton ball in the remover and then put it on your nail and put foil over it to keep it in place. that's what we did at beauty school and that way you aren't stuck with your nails submerged.

hope that helps, good luck! :)How can i get my acrylic nail off without it hurting?
This happened to me too. Basically, what you do is if you have acetone or regular nail polish remover, just soak your fingers in them and i would eventually come off. Like it pops off your finger :) (y) If you have nailpolish remover thats good but if you have acetone its even better . hopefuly i helped :)
soak them in urine, with a dash of strained chicken baby food, add a tad of vegetable oil, one finely cut breadbin, a porcupine, a dash of peppermint struddel pie, and finished off with a pinch of cinnamon

    hey presto
If the nail polish remover doesn't work, you'll have to go to the nail place to get them to remove them. They are made to stay on, so it's gonna hurt if you try to pull them,
Soak them in nailpolish and acetone for a while ,it should come off by it'self or with a little push
soak them in nail polish with acetone.

Did Palin nail it on the ';end of life counseling'; or what?

Just the other day, Palin said that the health care bill included provisions for end of life counseling. Wow, was she demonized for saying that! People actually thought she was lying. But today the Senate Finance Committee removed that provision from the health care bill. Hats off to Palin for pointing this out! She clearly speaks for the American people, right?Did Palin nail it on the ';end of life counseling'; or what?
I agree. And considering the targeting that's been going on - she did the right thing by removing herself as governor so she could be free to challenge those trying to put one over on u.s.Did Palin nail it on the ';end of life counseling'; or what?
Oddly, the ';end-of-life'; counseling is of great benefit to the health insurance companies... the big, bad companies which Obama wants to ';fix';.

How glad will/would they be to be rid of that costly prolonged end-of-life stuff?

How ';down'; on health insurance ';rackets'; [Harry Reid's term] is Obama?

Look what his ';health czar does....

';DeParle's contacts already helped avoid one pitfall, Politico.com reported. When she heard that insurance company BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina planned a series of web-ads criticizing the White House-supported public insurance option, DeParle got on the phone to the company's CEO. The end result: the ads were yanked.';(1)

Yeah! OZbama is gonna ';fix'; 'em all right!
End of life discussions and advance directives are already a part of healthcare. They are often mandatory in many hospitals. The difference is that your insurance company or medicare is not part of the discussion.

To include provisions and financial incentives for Doctors to push these matters on patients in the context of a Democrat bill designed to cut health care costs is frankly, disturbing.

Yes Sarah Palin made a very valid point.
You are mixing apples %26amp; peanuts. The finance committee removed provisions that would allow Drs to receive Medicare payments for counseling patients about living wills, etc. If you have been to a hospital or nursing home the past few years, you would realize that they are required to ask who will look after your affairs, should you become incapable. Palin's remarks were far from correct. Please notice that none of the Republican reps in Congress agree with her comments.
It is ironic that Christians, who believe in such a wonderful life after this one, at least for other Christians, want to do everything they can to make us suffer here. I have known several people who got to the point in life where it is only misery and suffering from that point on. There is nothing less humane or insensitive than to tell someone they cannot die if they have carefully thought it out and realize that it is a viable alternative.

Christians don't really believe in death. There is only bliss for the good ones and eternal suffering for the bad ones like me( please try not to enjoy the notion of me being in agony for eternity too much).

Anyone who has seen someone go through a long painful death knows how agonizing and horrible it is. Just because you say some super being says we don't have the right to decide doesn't make it so.

Many of the people who give me thumbs down may reconsider at some point in their lives. No one is forcing anyone to do anything.

But ignorance, contrary to popular belief, is not better than knowing the alternatives
Palin quote you can read it anywhere..(As governor, Palin declared April 16, 2008, ';Healthcare Decisions Day,'; signing a proclamation to ';encourage medical professionals and lawyers to volunteer their time and efforts to ... increase the number of Alaska's citizens with advance directives.';) Hello living will. end of life decision what a hipocrite
People like Palin and Grassley were for the ';death panel'; before they were against it:

The left is totally afraid of Palin. That's why she is so vilified. She is a true American, with a lot more smarts than Obama, or Biden or Pilosi!
What a bunch of lies....that same verbiage is in Medicare...a consultation with a Doctor...you people are funny and so uninformed. Palin has her OWN scandal on the elderly!

Sarah Palin鈥檚 Medicaid Scandal: Letting People Die While Waiting

The Anchorage Daily News just broke a story about a scandal in Alaska's administration of its Medicaid program. It seems federal auditors have suspended new entry into the program because of gross mismanagement by Alaska officials that was leaving hundreds untreated and may have resulted in over 200 deaths while patients were waiting for treatment.

State programs intended to help disabled and elderly Alaskans with daily life -- taking a bath, eating dinner, getting to the bathroom -- are so poorly managed, the state cannot assure the health and well-being of the people they are supposed to serve, a new federal review found.

The situation is so bad the federal government has forbidden the state to sign up new people until the state makes necessary improvements.

No other state in the nation is under such a moratorium, according to a spokeswoman for the federal Centers for Medicare %26amp; Medicaid Services.

In the meantime, frail and vulnerable Alaskans who desperately need the help are struggling. One elderly woman is stuck in a nursing home, for lack of care at home. Another woman, suffering from chronic pain and fatigue, said she's so weak, she often can't even pop dinner into the microwave.

The moratorium is expected to last four or five months. State officials estimate about 1,000 Alaskans will be affected.

A particularly alarming finding concerns deaths of adults in the programs. In one 2 1/2 year stretch, 227 adults already getting services died while waiting for a nurse to reassess their needs. Another 27 died waiting for their initial assessment, to see if they qualified for help.

And get this. The federal auditors notified Alaska officials on June 26, nearly three weeks ago. And there had already been half dozen lawsuits filed before that. But we didn't hear a peep out of Governor Sarah Palin about this scandal while she was explaining why she's bailing out or going fishing.
Nonsense. Please don't pretend to speak on behalf of 350 million people. You didn't poll every single American on what they want.

And most especially, please don't presume to speak for me.
